Foundation & History of ESDU
The ESDU was founded by Prof. Nora Mackh in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1998. The intention was to establish a strong and active dance community throughout Europe and the World.
With the time, Prof. Nora Mackh and her team set a number of initiatives to build up the ESDU as it is today. Here are some of the most significant milestones:
| 1998 | Foundation of ESDU in Klagenfurt/Austria and the 1st ESDU "European Open" (participants from 8 countries) |
| 2000 | The ESDU sends a team at the "US Open", member of "I love Dance" |
| 2002 | More than 1000 dancers took part at the ESDU "European Open" . A competent and immortal board of judges – the official ESDU jury pool -is formed up |
| 2004 | Participants from more than 15 countries took part at the ESDU "European Open", 700 performances were presented , ESDU became member of the UNESCO – CID |
| 2007 | About 2000 participants took part at the ESDU "European Open", coming from numerous countries |
| 2008 | ESDU was developing all over the world. The final ESDU “European Open” transformed into the ESDU World Dance Masters. |
